A warm and surprisingly sunny Saturday in August took me to the Chesterfield Downs golf club near Stevenage and the wedding of Sonja and Russell. This was a great day as I followed Sonja’s preparations from hair and make-up in the morning, through to the informal and relaxed wedding ceremony – where Abbie their daughter played a starring role as ring bearer – and then onto a chilled afternoon reception overlooking the rolling Hertfordshire countryside.
The wrestling season is in full swing and the next event I was asked to cover was a bout in Clifton, Bedfordshire. This was another fun packed evening with all the twists and turns you expect from an Ultimate British Wrestling event.
During the run up to Peter and Susan’s wedding in September 2015, I knew that Susan was working with the team at Archant to see whether she could have their wedding featured in the Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Bedfordshire Bride Magazine 2016. I discovered Susan had been successful when I found a double page spread in Bride magazine featuring my work!
It’s spring! Which for certain group of people can only mean only one thing… the start of the wrestling season! The first event in the Ultimate British Wrestling federation calendar was a match at Haynes in Bedfordshire and I was pleased to be invited to come along and cover the show for them. This was my third wrestling event with the UBW, and I have to admit I’m becoming a fan. Continue reading
February started with a flurry of activity this year with a surprise 70th birthday party to cover! 70th Birthday parties seem to be a recurring theme, and having covered a few recently, I was very pleased to be invited to shoot Sandra’s 70th birthday celebration at the Canary Club in Hitchin. This shoot was very definitely a surprise for the Birthday girl who arrived at her own party blindfold! Continue reading
The end of August pretty much marks the end of the wedding season (although this year I have weddings booked into November), but my last wedding in August took me to St Mary’s church in Old Welwyn in Hertfordshire for a relaxed and informal wedding which was much more about celebrating the day and being with friends and family than it was about pomp and circumstance.
The last weekend in July represents almost the end of a very busy month, however July ended on a high note, or should that be a highland note, with Steven and Kayleigh’s wedding. As you’ll have gathered from that awful pun there was a Scottish theme to Steven and Kayleigh’s wedding, due to Steven coming from north of the border, although as Kayleigh’s father mentioned in his speech there were in fact guests from across the United Kingdom. For me the 2015 wedding season started in the middle of June, however the unseasonably poor weather – persistent drizzle until an hour after the ceremony – didn’t put a dampener on the day, and didn’t stop me getting some great shots to help Jo and David remember their wedding day in Tewin, Hertfordshire.
Saturday night wouldn’t be Saturday night without live music! This particular Saturday night Resonance, the Herts based covers band, were playing Digswell Village hall in aid of CDA (Community Development in Africa). I went along to enjoy the event, but needless to say I had a camera in my pocket. Continue reading
