The wrestling season is in full swing and the next event I was asked to cover was a bout in Clifton, Bedfordshire. This was another fun packed evening with all the twists and turns you expect from an Ultimate British Wrestling event.
The middle of March took me to a venue I’ve known about for some time, but never actually done a shoot in; the Novotel in Stevenage. For this shoot I’d been asked to attend Alex and Aly’s engagement party.
It’s spring! Which for certain group of people can only mean only one thing… the start of the wrestling season! The first event in the Ultimate British Wrestling federation calendar was a match at Haynes in Bedfordshire and I was pleased to be invited to come along and cover the show for them. This was my third wrestling event with the UBW, and I have to admit I’m becoming a fan. Continue reading
February started with a flurry of activity this year with a surprise 70th birthday party to cover! 70th Birthday parties seem to be a recurring theme, and having covered a few recently, I was very pleased to be invited to shoot Sandra’s 70th birthday celebration at the Canary Club in Hitchin. This shoot was very definitely a surprise for the Birthday girl who arrived at her own party blindfold! Continue reading
One of the regular photographic requests I receive is to cover celebrations. Normally these are Birthday parties, family events and of course weddings, however this week I was asked to cover a celebration lunch for Tesco in Cheshunt.
One of the things that pleases me most about my photography is when I get a repeat job, and a text message a week before the Easter Bank holiday asking if I could cover a second UBW (Ultimate British Wrestling) event was just such a second job. Most of my memories of wrestling are from Saturday afternoon TV with “Giant Haystacks” and “Big Daddy” fighting it out on ITV’s World of Sport with Dickie Davis (that gives away my age…), however really have to be there to appreciate just how much fun these events are.
Following the recent family portrait shoot for Paul’s 70th birthday (Click here), I was invited back to cover his second 70th Birthday celebration in the beautiful Priory Hotel in Hitchin. For this event Paul had hired a number of reception rooms and I was asked to take some formal and candid photos of the 60 or so guests who had come along to celebrate with him.
Following my ongoing involvement with Hitchin Historical Society, I was asked to record their latest book launch “Fire Fire” held on the 25th October 2014 at the Pitcher and Piano in Hitchin. Shooting Hitchin Historical society book launches is become a regular affair for me now, with this being the third shoot they’ve asked me to cover.
