After over a year’s work the 2015 Hitchin Initiative Calendar was launched in Hitchin’s market square.
Previously the Hitchin Calendar has only been available from the Hitchin Initiative shop, however this year the Historical Society chose to have a formal launch to promote the calendar. Keith Hoskins and his team from the Hitchin Initiative kindly provided a stall in Hitchin’s historic market square for our use.
Following a slow start on a chilly morning which warmed into a beautiful day, reaction to the calendar was excellent with many people struggling to work out how the shots were taken. Suggestions included helicopters, specialist lenses and flying drones all might have been involved, however the answer was far simpler, although it involved many hours of work in photo-shop (read how the Mini-worlds were created). Everyone however was impressed with the how whichever way up the photo was images was clear and detailed.
Business was brisk with nearly 50 calendars being sold in the morning, and I was pleased to sell a number of mounted and framed prints, and take some custom orders. This is a great start to the sales of the calendar which I’m sure many people will be pleased to receive.
Hitchin Historical society is an active group with many events during the year. To learn more about the society and their work visit www.hitchinhistoricals.org.uk.
Calendars will be on sale in the Hitchin Initiative shop 27 Churchyard, Hitchin from now until the new year (for further details on the Hitchin Initiative visit their web site www.htci.org.uk).
