Matt and Michelle’s Wedding

Matt and Michelle are both real characters and made sure that their wedding matched their personalities.

26th March 2012

Venue - Hertford Castle, Hertford, Hertfordshire

IMG_4321Matt and Michelle’s wedding and reception were held in Hertford Castle in the middle of historic Hertford, on a beautifully sunny spring day and was just the day they wanted.

One of the advantages of spending time with the couple before the wedding is that I’m able to find out what the couple’s interests are, and in this case that meant discovering that Matt was a real ale fan. I’ve always known that the little details are a major part of any wedding and so I kept my eye’s open for the beer references through-out the day. It was truly amazing how many times hops were used as decorations, including the men’s button-holes, garlands around the reception and even as part Michelle’s bouquet.

Having the wedding and reception in the same venue, greatly simplified the logistics for Matt and Michelle and gave the day a really relaxed feel. Having the run of Hertford Castle meant that Matt, Michelle and their guests could move from one room to another, and out into the garden during the afternoon and evening. The spring sunshine, open grounds and historic castle walls gave lots of different locations and a feeling of space so I was able to produce a whole range of different pictures.
